Denmark is one of the eight Arctic countries and held the chairmanship of the Arctic Council between 2009 and 2011.
Climate change has a major impact on the Arctic environment. It affects the wildlife of the region as well as people living in the Arctic. Organisations and policy-makers work together and cooperate internationally to solve environmental, economic and safety issues, while at the same time protecting the indigenous population.
