In August 2011, the Kingdom of Denmark launched its Strategy for the Arctic 2011-2020.
The Kingdom of Denmark has created a joint strategy to meet the opportunities and challenges in the Arctic. The geographic location of the Denmark has made it an important international actor in the debate about the Arctic.
Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands share a number of values and interests and all have a responsibility in and for the Arctic region. The purpose of the Arctic Strategy is to reinforce the foundation for appropriate cooperation on the many new opportunities and challenges that the Arctic is facing in areas such as scientific research, climate change, the protection of the environment and the use of natural resources.
