How do you find a new friend when you’re bored? In the short film Vitello Digs a Hole by the Danish director Dorte Bengtson, the young boy Vitello is bored and has no one to play with. Until he meets Brat. Brat comes up with the idea that in order to find Vitello a new friend they have to dig a hole in the bicycle path and catch the new friend, but things do not go according to Brat’s plan…

The short film is an adaptation of the children’s book with the same title by Kim Fupz-Aakeson and Niels Bo Bojesen. This year Vitello Digs a Hole will be screened at the 4th edition of the European Union Short Film Festival which runs from June 2 to 4 in Ottawa.

The festival
features three engaging programs of short films from different countries, each showcasing works in a variety of short film genres and styles. The films will be presented in their original language with English subtitles. The festival runs over three nights and each night begins with a taste of European traditional food followed by the film screening.
