On Sunday May 28 the Royal Danish Embassy will be cheering on the marathon runners during the Ottawa Race Weekend at the Danish residence in Rockcliffe. The residence will host one of the official cheering stations for this year’s marathon and will be joined by Ashbury College students to man the water station.

The station will be right after the 30K mark on 420 Lisgar Road. At this point of the race, most runners will be exhausted from the long run and we encourage you to visit us and help cheer on the runners!

To celebrate Canada 150 the marathon is divided into different sections representing provinces and territories. The cheering station at the Danish residence will be part of the Newfoundland stretch on the run. Danish Vikings were some of the first to explore Newfoundland so the Danish Embassy is happy to represent Newfoundland to mark the strong bonds between Denmark and Canada. In true Viking spirit it, you can have your picture taken in the Viking photo booth and give your best Viking yell to cheer for the runners!

The Danish clothing company Bestseller is generously sponsoring t-shirts to celebrate Danish and Canadian relations as well as Canada 150. T-shirts will be given to the first cheerers to arrive. A band from Ashbury College will perform and we will also play Danish and Canadian tunes between sets.

We look forward to cheering for the runners with you!
