Danish rock band Volbeat joins Metallica for their North American tour this summer. Canadian fans of Volbeat will be able to see them perform in Toronto on July 16 and in Montreal on July 19.

Volbeat was formed in 2001 by lead vocalist Michael Poulsen and six studio albums have been released since then. Their latest album ‘Seal the Deal and Let’s Boogie’ was released in June 2016 and was well received by critics and fans. Volbeat mainly seeks inspiration from Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash and their music can be described as a mix of rock & roll and heavy metal. The band has received much praise for their ability to mix different genres, and has won several prizes and Danish award shows and was nominated for a Grammy in 2014.

Volbeat is also known for their energetic performances and Rolling Stones listed Volbeat’s concert at Coachella in 2016 as one of the most memorable performance of that year’s festival.

Volbeat will not be the only Danes performing at these two concerts. Metallica’s drummer Lars Ulrich is also from Denmark, and as a co-founder of the band he has been a part of Metallica since they started in 1981.
