Did you remember to print your receipt from the Visa Self Service Portal? This receipt serves as proof of payment for your visa and without it your application is not admissible.
When you have submitted your application online, please book an appointment at one of the VFS Global
centres, located in Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver.
Please note that when booking an appointment online, it will be at a VFS Global Centre, not at the Embassy or any of our consulates.

If you have had your biometrics recorded within the last 59 months with the specific purpose of obtaining a Schengen visa, we may be able to reuse the fingerprints for a new application.
You can mail your name, date of birth, country of citizenship, the passport number and/or the visa sticker number for which you believe your biometrics were recorded for. We will then check the availability in our system.
In rare cases, it is not possible to import the biometrics, even if they are present in the system. If you mail in your application and we are not able to locate your biometrics, a personal appearance will be mandatory.

Biometrics recorded for residence permits of Schengen member states, Canadian or US visas and similar cannot be used for a Schengen visa.

The consular officers spend a significant amount of time answering phone calls and emails. We therefore ask you to please not contact us in order to check the status of your application, unless the current processing time (15 days) and shipping time (an additional 1-3 days) has been exceeded.
You are also encouraged to read through the visa pages on our website, including the document checklists, before contacting us for assistance, as both resources contain detailed information about the process. This way we can focus on case processing and expedite a higher volume of cases in less time.
Your application will not be processed faster if you contact us often.
