Nova Scotia is the center of Canada’s booming offshore oil and gas activities. The consulate is located at I. H. Mathers (established in 1872) in Dartmouth.


Danes living in Nova Scotia can belong to the Scandinavian Society of Nova Scotia which always welcomes new members. Their contact information is PO Box 31241, Gladstone RPO, Halifax, NS B3K 5Y1.

On the 27th day of November 1895, His Majesty King Christian IX of Denmark, through Queen Victoria, sovereign of the Dominion of Canada, approved Isaac H. Mathers to be his Consul in Halifax.

Melissa Mathers is now the fifth generation family member to serve as the Honorary Danish Consul.
