20.03.2019  19:12

The next European elections take place on May 23-26 giving all adult EU citizens the opportunity to select who will represent them in the European Parliament.

In Denmark the voting will take place on May 26.

Eligible voters may cast their absentee votes at Danish missions abroad at any time between February 26 and May 26, however absentee ballots must reach the voters home municipality by election day in order to be counted.

Eligible voters in Canada may cast their absentee vote at any of the Danish Consulates in Canada, which can be found here. Eligible voters will be able to cast their votes by appointment only.

Please contact the Embassy or the Consulate, where you wish to schedule an appointment to vote.

We recommend that Danish citizens in Canada cast their vote as soon as possible and no later than May 14 to ensure that the absentee ballot reaches the municipality in time.

For information on the right to vote for Danish citizens abroad, please see the website of the Danish Ministry for Economic Affairs and the Interior.

In order to cast your vote, you must show a valid Danish photo ID, i.e. passport, driver’s license, health insurance card.
