Changes for visa and residence permit processing for Norway

28.11.2019  16:45

Please read the following information if you are planning to apply for a visa or a residence permit to Norway in the near future.

The representation agreement between Denmark and Norway in Canada is set to expire on December 31st 2019. Going forward, the processing of Schengen visas and residence permits, for the purpose of visiting Norway, will be transferred to the Norwegian Consulate General in New York.

You can continue to submit applications via ApplyVisa until December 7th. On December 8th, it will not longer be possible to create applications in ApplyVisa with Norway as the main destination, as the Embassy will not have sufficient time to process the visas prior to the Christmas break.

If you have created an application in ApplyVisa and you are able to submit your application in person to VFS Global prior to December 31st 2019, your application will be processed by the Royal Danish Embassy in Ottawa.

If you have created an application in ApplyVisa but you are not able to submit your application in person to VFS Global prior to December 31st 2019, your application fee in the Danish processing system will be refunded and VFS Global will direct you to creating an application in the Norwegian system.

VFS Global will continue handling applications for Norway, so the impact on applicants should be minimal.
