Application Guidelines

Please follow the application process outlined on the website of our official service partner, VFS Global.

Before submitting an application for a visa, please keep the following in mind:

  • The Canadian travel advisories for Denmark and Iceland are still in effect.
  • You must still self-quarantine for 14 days upon your return to Canada.
  • Depending on the type of your visit, there may be minimum requirements in terms of length of stay, proof of a negative COVID-19 test, etc. Please carefully read the regulations on the official information portal for COVID-19 for Denmark.
  • Depending on the type of your visit, you may be required to submit documentation in addition to the regular visa checklist. Please familiarize yourself with the requirements on the information portal.
  • Please be aware that Iceland has introduced travel restrictions. More information is available here.

The Embassy in Ottawa cannot assist with your visa cases.

While your physical application and passport will be stored at the Danish Embassy in Ottawa, the actual case processing is done digitally by the Danish Consulate General in New York City. For questions, please reach out to this team directly. Contact information is available here.

Please be advised that Schengen visa applications from Canada are not processed by the Royal Danish Embassy in Ottawa. While your physical file and passport are stored at the Royal Danish Embassy in Ottawa, your digital file will be processed at the Danish Consulate General in New York City.

As a result of this, the Royal Danish Embassy in Ottawa cannot assist you with the Schengen visa application process, including guidance, decisions, processing time and accepting applications.
