Danish Ambassador undertakes first official visit to British Columbia
Ambassador Hanne Fugl Eskjær had the opportunity to travel to British Columbia for an official visit in late April.
In British Columbia she had the pleasure of meeting with Minister for Forests and Minister Responsible for the Consular Corps Bruce Ralston to discuss our shared priority of combatting the growing impact of climate change, and the many opportunities for joint collaboration on innovative solutions that benefit the green transition, including hydrogen and energy efficiency. She was accompanied by our Honorary Consul Mikkel Strøjer.
The Ambassador’s visit focused on British Columbia and Denmark’s shared commitment to achieving Net-Zero by 2050 and building a greener future. In this context, she met with Minister of Environment and Climate Change Strategy George Heyman to discuss clean energy projects in British Columbia and the province’s priorities to build a green economy. Additionally, Ambassador Eskjær had the chance to connect with Deputy Minister of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation, Fazil Mihlar to learn about BC’s ambitious investments in new innovation and technology that will benefit a green economy.
As Danish interest continues to grow in Canada, Ambassador Eskjær had the wonderful opportunity to welcome a large delegation of Danish Green Energy Experts and Stakeholders to Vancouver to learn from Canadian Industry Leaders about modern and innovative Carbon Capture technologies and discuss future opportunities for collaboration in this sector.
In addition, Ambassador Eskjær participated in a service at the Danish Church in Burnaby, and had the chance to meet with many from the local Danish Community.
