Commercial Advisor, Energy and Energy Efficiency

Do you have strong business acumen and energy experience from either the industry or government? Do you want to promote Danish energy and energy efficiency solutions in Canada and the US?

Then perhaps you are our new Commercial Advisor focusing on Energy and Energy Efficiency.


 

You will work to create partnerships, promote and assist Danish companies to grow their business in Canada and USA. You will together with colleagues based in Toronto and in the US drive an alliance of Danish district energy companies with focus on bringing low carbon district energy systems to campuses, hospitals, cities and more across North America as well as you will be part of our energy/energy efficiency team running a commercial business alliance around data centers. Finally, you will explore and develop opportunities for Danish energy companies in Canada within sustainable energy production like wind power and hydrogen.

 

 

 

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Working on behalf of Danish District Energy Alliance members with a focus on creating value by executing workshops and delegations in close collaboration with our North American partners looking to implement low-carbon district energy systems.
  • Develop and manage the Danish Data Center Alliance with a specific focus on efficient cooling, heat reuse, water management, integrated facility / urban design and circular resource planning.
  • Explore and develop business opportunities in the Canadian market for Danish companies within sustainable energy production.
  • Strategic outreach towards stakeholders, decisions makers and companies in North America and Denmark.
  • You will conduct outreach and connect the Danish companies with potential market opportunities, delivering market intelligence and business development.

  

The Trade Council conducts paid export advisory services with targets for value creation and the activity level.

 

To succeed in this, you should be able to:

  • Create close relationships with Canadian and American authorities, campuses, towns and private companies, and actively use your network to benefit Danish companies
  • Draw on your experience from collaborating with either Danish, Canadian or American energy authorities and/or the energy, district energy or energy infrastructure industry
  • Work efficiently on your own as well as in a team
  • Be committed, outgoing and results-oriented
  • Have existing knowledge of either Canadian, American or Danish energy and/or energy efficiency market

 

Required qualifications

  • Bachelors (minimum) in business, social sciences or engineering
  • 2-6 years of relevant work experience in business and project development, consulting, sales
  • Ambitious, outgoing and able to handle multiple tasks efficiently
  • A well-developed sense of responsibility and ability to work independently
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken)
  • To work at our Toronto location an existing open work permit for Canada is required

 

Employment conditions

  • You will be hired on local terms as “Commercial Advisor”
  • You will be offered full time employment for 2 years with the possibility of extension. Your standard working hours are 37 hours per week
  • Your contract is regulated according to the “Local Staff Rules” of the Danish representations in Canada
  • Your salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant work experience and proven work-related results
  • Other benefits: Five weeks paid vacation annually, Group healthcare benefits, pension scheme and potential for year-end bonus
  • Travelling within North America and to Denmark should be expected
