Are you looking for a part-time administrative position? Would you like to work in a Scandinavian office environment? Then perhaps you are our new administrative officer at the Royal Danish Consulate General in Toronto.

The Danish Consulate in Toronto is seeking to recruit a positive and independent administrative officer for our administration and finance department. We are looking for an individual with administrative and bookkeeping training and/or experience. The successful candidate must be structured with good attention to detail, and should demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assume routine tasks.

You will become an integral part of an office with 15 colleagues working for Denmark and Danish interests. Your main tasks will involve day-to-day administrative and finance related work for the Danish Consulate General and Trade Council. You are, however expected to show the flexibility required for an optimal handling of the entire administrative portfolio and thus be ready to assist with various administrative tasks for other colleagues within the Danish Trade Council, as well as contribute towards handling of some consular tasks.

 

Main tasks and responsibilities:

 

  • Accounts payable including bill payments and staff reimbursements
  • Expense settlements and posting of accounting entries in the Danish governmental finance systems, mainly Navision & RejsUd
  • HST refunds through the diplomatic rebate program
  • Compliance within the Danish MFA guidelines for procurement, GDPR and archiving
  • Various ad hoc administrative and consular tasks
  • Assist with answering phone calls

  

Qualifications and personal skills:

  • Degree or diploma in basic accounting or relevant work experience
  • Previous experience with administration / finance is required
  • IT proficiency and solid skills regarding the Microsoft Office program incl. Excel
  • Knowledge of the Danish Government finance systems incl. Navision and RejsUd is not a requirement, but will be considered an advantage
  • Fluency in English (oral and written) is required
  • Fluency in Danish or other Scandinavian language is not a requirement, but will be considered an advantage
  • Structured with good attention to details and a well-developed sense of responsibility
  • Flexibility to adapt with the changing needs of the Consulate General
  • Positive attitude and ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Must be able to act with discretion at all times
  • Must have an existing open work permit in Canada

 

Employment conditions

  • You will be offered a part time contract at the Danish Consulate General in Toronto valid for 2 years with the possibility of extension
  • You standard working hours are expected to be around 15 hours per week with some flexibility in organizing your own daily working hours
  • You will be entitled to five weeks of paid holiday per year
  • Your hourly salary will reflect your qualifications and relevant work experience
  • As part of your salary, you will be covered by a workplace pension scheme
  • Employment will be dependent on receiving and maintaining security clearance by the Danish authorities
