Danish Passport
Whether you're applying for a passport for the first time or renewing your existing passport, please read through the below information to confirm your eligibility for a Danish passport.
General Information Regarding Danish Citizenship
Updated legislation regarding dual citizenship came into effect on September 1st 2015. The new legislation makes it possible for Danish citizens to obtain citizenship from a new country without losing their Danish citizenship. This means that if you obtained Canadian citizenship after September 1st 2015, you have not lost your Danish citizenship. However, if you obtained Canadian citizenship prior to this date, you lost your Danish citizenship at that point and you will need to successfully apply for reacquisition of Danish citizenship before you can apply for a new Danish passport.
